Our specialised and quite unique Foodie Safaris brings together a range of our deepest passions, the very best of the wild foods harvesters by the San, our own African rare breeds farm with heritage African Kolbroek pigs and African rare breed chickens, our farm butchery and Charcuterie where we prepare a range of meat products including hot smoked and dry cured and cold smoked delicacies and of course, a trip to the great Central Kalahari with a menu unheard of this great wilderness. Following with the traditions of our partners, the San, we are shamelessly omnivorous in the Kalahari and we all love meat. Whilst we fully accept the global drive away from meat for ethical and ecological reasons, out here in the desert carnivores rule and our footprint on this planet is very small indeed. All our game meat is harvested on the farm and is fully organic. All our domestic meats are free range on the farm, entirely anti-biotic and hormone free and are part of a global rare breeds programme (Slow Food) to prevent the extinction of the breeds in honour of the centuries of selective breeding required to bring them into our world. We invite you on a journey like no other to share the full suite of our passions for the Kalahari and the finest of her culinary offerings. Check out a typical itinerary here.
CKGR is a remote destination yet we have managed to keep our daily rate on a par with most offers to Moremi from Maun, a fraction of the distance. Crucially we also don’t fix dates and then fill a sixteen-seater open Cruiser with loads of people who don’t even know each other. All our safaris are private and exclusive. The costs per person also come down if there are more guests as some of our costs like transport are fixed. Of course, we are also open to your suggestions and can customise your trip, both to CKGR or anywhere else in Botswana and Namibia at a great daily rate. Our costs do not include a San tracker/spotter. The experience of bringing one or two of our San friends along really is unique, their capability in spotting game is legendary and they are wonderful people to have along. It’s your choice at a small extra fee so please do enquire. Lastly, we are based near Ghanzi in western Botswana where you will need to stay the first and last night unless you arrange a Maun pick-up. We recommend our base camp at the San owned game farm, Dqae Qare San Lodge.
